Cretshengan Bay
The beach to the north of the campsite is used by Crear for its celebrated “Wee Weddings”. We ask our guests not to use the beach on days when weddings are being held.
Please do not use Cretshengan Bay, between 09.00 and 4.30pm on:
- Tuesdays
- Thursdays
- & Saturdays
A barrier will be erected and a sign displayed stating that the beach is closed on the days when a wedding is planned. This allows Crear to prepare for and hold two weddings each day. As soon as the afternoon’s wedding is over we will open the beach usually by 4.30pm.
The Wee Wedding parties usually consist of the happy couple, a celebrant, a piper and a photographer with perhaps a few friends so you may not always see them from the end of the campsite.
Please respect the bride and groom on their special day. Just as you may not want them joining your picnic or appearing in your holiday photographs they do not want you at their wedding or in the photographs.
Public Rights of Access – The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 gives the public legal rights of responsible access to land and water including the beach. However, a landowner can ask the public to avoid an area of land to allow them to hold an event under Section 4.14 of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
Crear has agreed this arrangement with Port Ban Holiday Park with the support of Argyll & Bute Council to allow weddings to be held.

Family Tomb – To the north of the beach is a ruined building where the former owners of the estate were buried. Please do not climb on the walls which are old and unsafe.

When Cretshengan Bay is closed you are encouraged to explore the beaches and shore line to the south of the holiday park as well as visit the beaches to the north and south along the Kilberry Roa
