Port Bàn On-Site Shop, Café and Restaurant
For the 2016 season, the Port Ban Management has decided to hand over the running of the Shop and Café to a separate entity run by the Port Ban Tenants for the benefit of the Tenants and other visitors. This is an experiment for the trial period of a year for the main purpose of increasing the use of these facilities by attempting to revitalise the products on offer and reduce prices. Any surplus funds will be used for projects deemed by the Tenants Association and the Port Ban Management to be for the benefit of Port Ban Tenants and holidaymakers.
The on-site shop at Port Bàn Holiday Park sells the essentials, bread, frozen food, tins, milk, confectionery, ice creams, etc. We also provide fishing equipment, toys, books, crafts, jewellery, beach (flip-flops and wetsuits, etc) and camping gear.
Things you need to know…
Newspapers need to be ordered in, by 5pm the day before. The postie brings them when he comes.
The nearest cash machines are in Lochgilphead and Tarbert although recently we are told Natwest cards only work in Inverary or Campbeltown.
Where possible, we source locally produced food including items from Forteiths and the Breckenridge Farm, both from Oban. Seasonal fruit, salad and vegetables are delivered twice weekly to the shop and you are able to pre-order so these so they are here for your stay.
During the busier periods the café is open for breakfasts, lunches and high teas.
